Best New Music: Baby Keem, Kendrick Lamar, Gunna, Latto, Kid Cudi and More

Must Read

The Rap Aesthetics Best New Music playlist for the month of June kicks off with a big bang. Let’s dig in.

Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar trade infectious verses on “The Hillbillies,” which was unexpectedly released on the pgLang YouTube channel on Tuesday (May 30). Featuring fast-paced production by SURF GANG founder EVILGIANE, “The Hillbillies” is built around a sample of Bon Iver’s 2020 COVID-19 benefit single “PDLIF.” The freewheeling collaboration between the two cousins details their travels around the world as they rap about fashion, women, and fame.

Next up, Gunna addresses the snitching allegations in his first new single since negotiating a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. In the new single titled “Bread and Butter,” Gunna reaffirms he didn’t snitch, but admits he may have been played by the DA and his legal team.

“Lawyers and DA did some sneaky shit, I fell for it,” he raps, noting that he will be more prepared next time.

Elsewhere, Latto and Cardi B connect for “Put It On The Floor Again,” the remix to Latto’s Put It On The Floor released in the spring. Coi Leray preaches “Self Love” on the Spider-Verse soundtrack, while Kid Cudi croons on “Porsche Topless.”

We also get new music this week from The Weeknd, Playboi Carti and Madonna (“Popular”), Ty Dolla $ign (“Motion”) and Moneybagg Yo and GloRilla (“On Wat U On”). Because we can’t always get them all. These are some of the best new songs released this week. All in one place for your listening pleasure.
