Eminem’s “Mockingbird” joins one Billion Spotify streams club.
Eminem has achieved a new milestone in his career. The Detroit legend is now the rapper with the most monthly listeners on Spotify, surpassing Drake who previously held the record.
Both artists presently have over 68.5 million monthly listeners, with Eminem edging it by some change. According to Spotify, Eminem as of February has approximately 68,558,442 Spotify listeners and Drake has 68,553,088.
While Eminem hasn’t released an official album in nearly three years, the ‘Relapse’ rapper has remained one of the most popular artists on streaming platforms. He is currently the 7th most streamed artist in Spotify history with more than 33.5 billion streams in total. The only rap artist ahead of him is Drake with a massive 55 billion streams.
It should be noted that Drake has put out three projects since Eminem released Music To Be Murdered By in 2020. The 44-year-old’s catalog received a new lease on life after Mockingbird from his 2004 album Encore went viral on Tiktok. The song’s recent popularity among Gen-Z content creators, Which involved the use of hashtags such as #MockingbirdEminem has helped push the 20-year-track over the 1 Billion streams mark on Spotify, becoming Em’s seventh record to achieve this milestone.
Other songs from Eminem in the Spotify billion streams club include; “The Real Slim Shady,” “Without Me” and “Lose Yourself.”
Eminem also has 67 songs with over 100 million streams, 229 songs with over 10 million streams, and 268 songs with more than one million streams.
“Mockingbird” was released as the fifth single from Eminem’s fifth studio album Encore. The hit song peaked No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 2006 Grammys, but lost to Kanye West’s Gold Digger.
