According to early projections, Yachty’s fifth studio album is expected to sell 19k–24k copies in its first week. A slight drop from his last album Lil Boat 3, which sold 30,000 equivalent album copies in its opening week.

The deep in sales were more or less expected as the 25-year-old took an entirely different approach with his first album in three years. Stacked with 14-tracks, Let’s Start Here is infused with trippy rock n’ roll sounds that mirrors some of his early influences such as Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

“My new album is a non-rap album. It’s alternative, it’s sick.” He said about the project in an interview with Ice Box. “It’s different, it’s all live instrumentation.”

Let’s Start Here features young talent like Justine Skye (Running Out Of Time and The Zone); Foushee (Pretty); Teezo Touchdown (The Ride); and Daniel Caesar (Reach The Sunshine).

“Think I created [Lets Start Here] because I really want to be taken seriously as an artist,” Yachty said during the album’s release party in Jersey City’s Liberty Science Center, which was attended by his most devoted supporters and industry friends including Offset and Drake.

“Not just some Soundcloud rapper, not some mumble rapper, not some guy that just made one hit.”

“Music is everything to me. I respect all walks of music,” he added.
