Drake has reclaimed the title of rap’s highest-grossing tour artist from Kendrick Lamar, with his It’s All A Blur Tour currently holding the record. According to Touring Data, Drizzy’s It’s All A Blur Tour has amassed an impressive $129.7 million in revenue, surpassing Kendrick Lamar’s Big Steppers Tour, which held the previous record with $110.9 million.
This figure only accounts for 30 of the 72 shows Drake has performed on the tour so far, suggesting that the final tally could be significantly higher. With 42 shows remaining, the tour’s earnings are expected to well exceed $250 million, setting a new benchmark for rap tours.
While some initially questioned Drake’s decision to stick to arenas rather than stadiums, the choice has proven to be a resounding success. The smaller venues have allowed for a more intimate and engaging experience for fans, contributing to the tour’s impressive financial performance.
Drake’s reign as rap’s top tour artist is set to continue next year as he teams up with J. Cole for 18 co-headlining shows on the It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? Tour. The tour will kick off on January 18 in Denver, Colorado, and will conclude on March 27 in Birmingham, Alabama.
J. Cole’s manager Ibrahim “IB” Hamad explained the decision to focus on secondary markets for the Dreamville-OVO tour, stating that the goal is to prioritize cities that are often overlooked on major tours.
While some fans expressed disappointment at the lack of shows in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, Cole and his team are excited to connect with fans in smaller markets that have supported them from the early days of their careers.
Meanwhile, Drake just released a deluxe version of his latest album, For All The Dogs, titled Scary Hours 3. The deluxe edition includes six additional tracks, one of which is a new collaboration with J. Cole on “Evil Ways.”
