Jeezy has reportedly filed for divorce from Jeannie Mai, ending their marriage of roughly two and a half years. According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta rapper filed papers in Fulton County Superior Court on Thursday and is seeking joint custody of their one-year-old daughter. Additionally, it’s noted that they have a prenuptial agreement in place.
In docs obtained by TMZ, Jeezy, 45, stated his marriage with Mai, 44, is “irretrievably broken,” with “no hope for reconciliation.”
The couple initially started dating in 2018 but kept their relationship private until 2019 when they made it public. They eventually exchanged vows on March 27, 2021, in an intimate ceremony at their Atlanta home. Their wedding plans had to be altered due to COVID-19, prompting them to create a more intimate setting for the ceremony.
“We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate,” Mai told Vogue. “But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”
Mai recently celebrated her husband’s memoir “Adversity For Sale” on a heartfelt IG post. “Today I celebrate a remarkable milestone achieved by husband [Jeezy], whose memoir ‘Adversity For Sale’ has soared to the New York Times bestsellers list,” she wrote.
“I’m endlessly grateful for your voice in this world. Honored to walk beside you my love,” she concluded.
