R&B singer Chris Brown has taken to social media to defend himself against accusations of antisemitism following a video that surfaced of him partying with Kanye West in Dubai. In the video, Brown can be seen laughing and singing along to West’s new song “Vultures,” which contains lyrics that some have deemed offensive.
The song, which features Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk, and Bump J, has been criticized for its lyrics, with some accusing West of antisemitism. One line in particular, which states, “I’m not antisemitic, I just f**ked a Jewish b*tch,” has drawn particular ire.
Brown, who has a history of controversial behavior, faced backlash online after the video surfaced. Many accused him of condoning antisemitism by laughing and singing along to the song.
In a statement on Instagram, Brown denied being antisemitic. “In no way shape or form am I antisemitic!” he wrote. “I’m pro life and I make music for the entire world!”
He went on to say that he doesn’t want to be seen as condoning hate speech. “So please do not get tricked into thinking I spread hate or am I kool with it! This [is] for the millions of young kids that look up to [me] and may be confused.”
Brown also issued a warning to those who would use him as a pawn in their own agendas. “Let me make this perfectly clear before yall try to use me as a pawn… Ima Piru I aint muslim or jewish so don’t start no sht wont be no sht. Im trying to be peaceful but please no not wake up the demon in me! Go on about your f**king day,” he wrote.
Kanye West, who has been banned from some social media platform due to his past antisemitic comments, has not responded to the controversy. However, Chris Brown continues to face backlash online.
The incident comes at a time when Brown is promoting his new album, 11:11, which has been well-received by fans. The LP earned the R&B singer his 12th top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200 after debuting at No. 9 behind 45K album units sold in its first week.
West is also rumored to be working on a new album, and “Vultures” is reportedly the first single from the project.
