A video showing Big Jook at a recent funeral in Tennessee has emerged, capturing some of his final moments with his brother Yo Gotti before his devastating shooting death last weekend.
In the clip circulating online, Jook, born Anthony Mims can be seen towering over other attendees at the funeral in a black suit. He appears emotional as he approaches the open casket of his uncle, Eric Bovan, embracing fellow grieving family and friends.
This was just hours before Jook’s own untimely death.
As previously reported on Rap Aesthetics, Big Jook met his tragic end in Memphis on Saturday afternoon (January 13) outside Perignons Restaurant & Event Centre in what authorities are calling a targeted attack. Another man was also shot and rushed to St. Francis Hospital before being airlifted to Regional One Health in critical condition.
While specific details surrounding the shooting remain elusive, some speculate a potential link to the 2021 murder of Young Dolph, who was Yo Gotti’s rival at the time.
On Sunday (January 14), the Memphis Police Department released images of a vehicle they believe to be connected with the fatal shooting. The vehicle is a white Ford Explorer with dark-tinted windows and no license plates.
Jook, who was 47 at the time of his death was affiliated with Gotti’s label Collective Music Group, though he worked more on the business side rather than as a performer himself. Following his tragic passing, artists from CMG, including GloRilla and EST Gee, have expressed their condolences on social media.
Big Jook’s younger sibling, Yo Gotti has yet to address the shooting publicly.
