Ermias Asghedom, known professionally as Nipsey Hussle was shot 6 times in front of his flagship Marathon clothing store in his native south Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. Following the unfortunate incident in the 3400 block on west Slauson Avenue, Hussle was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 33.
His longtime partner Lauren London broke her silence with a heartfelt message on Instagram.
“I am completely lost,” she Wrote. “I’ve lost my best friend, my sanctuary my protector my soul … I’m lost without you. We are lost without you babe. I have no words.”
The West Coast rapper’s sister – Samantha Smith – also took to social media to mourn her late brother

“You gave me so much insight. We will talk every second of every day and I am here to carry out your vision. Ermias God Will Rise. I love you forever and I will cry forever. You are my lifeline as long as I am here you are too.”
Who Killed Nipsey Hussle?
Two days after he was fatally shot – 29-year-old Eric Holder was charged with the murder of Nipsey Hussle as well as two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Two men were also injured in the shooting outside the Marathon store. The two victims are identified as Kerry Lathan and Shermi Cervabta.
Eric Holder, who allegedly had a verbal altercation with Hussle just before the shooting was convicted of first-degree murder in July 2022. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Memorial And Obituary
Nipsey Hussle’s Memorial was Held At The Los Angeles Staples Center On April 11, 2019, because of its massive 21,000 sit arena, which the family alleged would be enough to accommodate thousands of expected mourners. According to TMZ, a meeting was held on Wednesday (April 3) with Hussle’s family, LAPD officials, and the Staples Center management to help plan logistics and security for the event, which was made open to the public.
An online petition was filed on Change.org to rename Crenshaw Blvd and Slauson Avenue in the Hyde Park district of L.A. to Nipsey Hussle Blvd. The intersection is the same location as The Marathon Clothing store, and the same place the rapper was gunned down.
