Da Brat started her career in 1992, and signed with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Records later that year after winning a local rap contest sponsored by Yo! MTV Raps. Her debut album Funkdafied was released in 1994 and entered the rap albums chart at number 11. The album went platinum, making her the first female solo rapper to sell one million copies.
