NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk were both supposed to drop albums today. However, Only YB dropped while Durk opted to drop his new single with J. Cole, “All My Life,” instead.
His decision to postpone his album release drew mixed reactions from Twitter users, with many claiming he punked out because of YBs threats.
“Yb told durk he bet not drop and wtf durk do???? NOT DROP,” one user wrote on Twitter.
“is durk scared of yb atp???” Another person asked.
Some fans argued in his defense, pointing out that he never outrightly said he was dropping his album on Friday and that he only hinted on a date for what was later discovered to be a release date for his collaboration with J. Cole.
“He actually never said he was dropping the album that day …….YALL just assumed ….he was only hinting at the J COLE feature/song [face palm emoji],” argued one person.
This week YoungBoy took to his Twitter burner account to threaten repercussions against Durkio if he dared release “Almost Healed” on the same day as his new album “Richest Opp.”
After it became apparent that Durk had delayed his album for another two weeks, Never Broke Again celebrated his victory by clowning his longtime nemesis.
“Bitch ass n-gga, you pushed back you better not every try that again,” YoungBoy taunted.
Soulja Boy, who also released his new album today (May 12) also reacted to Durk’s decision to delay his album. Unlike NBA YoungBoy, the ‘Crank Dat’ crooner was uncharacteristically graceful with his response.
“Shoutout Durk for pushing his album back. Real N-gga,” tweeted Soulja Boy.”
Amid the Twitter backlash, Durk returned to the social app to share his thoughts. “Labels try to pay me to beef I just can’t fake it I’m different I’m him unpredictable,” the Chicago rapper wrote.
