Kanye West’s chapter with Gap isn’t over yet. The fashion company, which he partnered with in 2020 to create new clothing design lines has filed a $2 million damages lawsuit against him for the failed partnership

According to RadarOnline, Gap decided to come after kanye West after a separate company called Art City Center filed a lawsuit against them for breach of contract.

Art City Center say they entered an agreement to lease a building in downtown Los Angeles to Gap, which used the location as a storefront for Kanye’s Yeezy clothing line from 2021 to 2022. As per the agreement, Gap wasn’t allowed to make alterations to the building without approval.

However, Art City Center say Gap “completed numerous, significant, unapproved modifications” to the building and have failed to restore it to its original Condition.

Although Gap denied all allegations of wrong doing, they filed a countersuit on April 3 against Kanye West and his Yeezy brand. Gap wants West to foot the bill because they claim their agreement with the ex-billionaire included specific provisions that guarantees they would not be held liable for any claims brought due to Yeezy’s acts or omissions. They also accused West of making all the changes to the building.

“by making and not repairing or restoring the foregoing alterations of the Premises that [Kanye] made without Gap’s participation or approval, [Kanye] breached the Strategic Agreement and directly and proximately caused Gap to incur expenses to repair and restore the premises,”Gap’s suit read.

The company has demanded more than $2 million in compensatory damages and attorney fees from the artist formerly known as Ye.

As previously reported on Rap Aesthetics, Kanye West terminated his partnership with GAP in 2022, two years after announcing their collaboration. In a letter obtained by The Wall Street Journal, Ye accused Gap of violating their agreement by not releasing his clothing as promised, and not opening dedicated YZY Gap stores. West also claimed the company failed in its agreement to distribute Yeezy products in its stores by the second half of 2021.
