Balenciaga has reportedly cut its ties with Kanye West.
According to a post by Women’s Wear Daily, the French fashion house has ended its relationship with the artist now known as Ye and has no “plans for future projects.”
“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” a Kering rep told WWD.
The publication also reports that an image from Balenciaga’s summer 2023 show, which featured the “Stronger” rapper wearing what looked like battle gear, including a branded mouthguard shielding his teeth has been removed from Balenciaga’s website.
Though the exact reason behind the termination wasn’t stated, the decision could be in response to his repeated anti-semitic remarks, and his false claims about the manner of George Floyd’s death.
Kanye and Balenciaga have a long history, and most recently partnered for a Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collection in February.
Meanwhile, the 45-year-old has apologized for saying he was going to go “Death Con 3” on Jewish people. During a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ye admitted his comments were racist, saying “I fought fire with fire.”
