Last week a video of Christian rapper Chance The Rapper dancing ‘inappropriately’ with Jamaican model Mela Millz at Carnival 2023 went viral and had the internet talking. Fans were perplexed with his behaviorism in the clip given his relationship status.
In the video, a shirtless Chance, who is married with two children grinds with Millz and touches her butt. Social commentators reacted negatively to the clip, which eventually sparked a conversation in the comments about infidelity.
“He married doing this in 4k if it was the other way around and his wife was letting some other man touch all over her she wold be called every degrading insult in the book,” one person said.
“He has no class,” another user wrote.
Seemingly in response to the viral clip, Chance The Rapper’s wife, Kirsten Corley appears to call out her husband’s childish behaviors using a quote by Maya Angelou explaining how people never grow up.
“Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That’s the truth of it,” a highlighted portion of the text reads. “They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they marry, the have the nerve to have children, but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older. But to grow up costs the earth, the earth. It manes you take responsibility for the time you take up, for the space you occupy. It’s serious business. And you find out what it costs us to love and to lose, to dare and to fail. And maybe even more, to succeed.
“What it costs, in truth,” the messages concluded. “Not superficial costs- anybody can have that- I mean in truth.”
She also reposted an inspirational quote on her Instagram story.
“Wherever I go, grace will beat me to it, meet me in it, turn it around, and make it a miracle,” the IG Story read.
Chance The Rapper and Kirsten Corley got married in 2019, but have known each other since 2003. The couple share two daughters: 7-year-old Kensli and 3-year-old Marli.
