Report: Kanye West To Perform At Ghana’s Black Star Line Festival

Must Read

Kanye West has managed to remove himself from the public eye in America and is reportedly in Africa. According to a tweet shared by DJ Ebenezer Donkoh on Thursday (Jan. 5). The former YEEZY billionaire is currently in Ghana for Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper’s Black Star Line Festival, where he’s scheduled to perform as a surprise guest.

“I’m gathering info that Kanye West will be the surprise act at the Black Star Line Festival in Ghana this weekend,” Donkoh wrote on Twitter.

The free concert happening in Accra on Friday (January 6) will also include performances from Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Jeremih, Tobe Nwigwe as well as Ghanaian rap legends Sarkodie and M.anifest.

Though we can’t confirm the legitimacy of DJ Ebenezer Donkoh’s tweet, several other Ghanian outlets have come out to corroborate the news.

Kanye West has been uncharacteristically keeping a low profile in the United States after embarking on an anti-Jewish campaign, which ended up with him being banned from social platforms like Instagram, Twitter and even Clubhouse. His disappearance was eventually deemed to be an evasive tactic by an ex-manager from his DONDA Acacdemy, Thomas St. John, who claimed the 45-year old went into hiding to avoid being sued over an alleged breach of contract.

Ye was eventually seen in church and lush resort Amangiri in Utah weeks later.

Meanwhile, Vic Mensa — who’s one of the headliners of Black Star Line Festival recently announced plans to bring accessible clean water to several remote villages in Ghana with a drilling project that could take three to four weeks to finish.

“We’re building three boreholes in different communities in Ghana to provide clean drinking water; the first being the Asokore Zongo in Koforidua where my family lives, which is already built,” the rapper said
