At age 15, Dash lost his mother to an asthma attack. Having no one to depend on, he started sweeping floors of a local barbershop and sold newspapers in order to buy sneakers and shirts as a teenager.
Dash began his career in the music industry as a manager for the hip-hop group Original Flavor. He later co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke in 1995.
