Eminem and his ex-wife, Kim Mathers, are set to reunite at their daughter Hailie Jade’s upcoming wedding, as the pair are now “on good terms,” reports The Sun.
The Detroit rap legend is expected to have the honor of walking Hailie down the aisle as she marries her long-time boyfriend, Evan McClintock. Kim confirmed that she will be in attendance at the wedding, having also been present at their daughter Alaina Scott’s wedding in June.
When asked about Hailie’s wedding, Kim responded affirmatively, saying, “Yes, of course.” She also mentioned that she maintains close relationships with all her adult children and keeps in touch with Eminem, although she admits they aren’t in contact “often enough!”
Eminem and Kimberly Scott’s relationship has been marked by turbulence since their teenage years. They initially met, began dating, and welcomed their daughter, Hailie Jade Scott, on December 25, 1995.
Their first marriage in 1999 was tumultuous, characterized by arguments, separations, and reconciliations, ultimately leading to a divorce in 2001. Kim filed a defamation lawsuit shortly after Eminem filed for divorce, citing the violent lyrics in a song named after her.
In Eminem’s song “Kim,” he adopts a narrative perspective that vividly portrays a distressing scenario where he confronts a fictional Kim, expressing a range of emotions from anger to despair. The song delivers raw, intense emotion, illustrating a complex mix of love, hatred, and deep-seated resentment towards Kim.
After settling their legal disputes, they reconciled and remarried in 2006, only to part ways once again a year later. Kim later addressed their relationship on ABC’s 20/20 in 2007, shedding light on the rumors surrounding their marriage.
“Money is great, but it doesn’t make your husband stay at home with you,” she remarked about her famous ex. “Or sleep in the same bed with you… Him being on the road and on tour… that was like the big one. I mean… constant infidelities, all the time,” she added.
Meanwhile, Hailie and are Evan McClintock are yet to publicly announce a date for their nuptials. The pair have been dating since around 2016 after meeting at Michigan State University.
Hailie, 27 is her father’s only biological child but he adopted Alaina in the early 2000s, from Kim’s sister Dawn Scott after she struggled with drug use. Eminem also later adopted Kim’s child from her first marriage to Eric Hartter, Whitney, who now uses they/them pronouns and goes by Stevie Laine.
