At the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Fest, Lil Durk surprised the crowd with a special guest appearance by J. Cole, where they performed their 2023 hit track “All My Life.”

The audience erupted in cheers as the two artists took the stage together for the first time. The Durk addressed the crowd saying, “The song’s been huge for us. Let’s do it justice,” before diving into the track’s chorus.

“All My Life” served as the lead single from Durk’s eighth studio album “Almost Healed.” The Chicago rapper first teased the collaboration in early April at Dreamville Festival. “I was gonna do [the festival] anyways,” he said. “I wanted to do it anyway getting to the festival world, but me and J. Cole cooking up something too. We’re just vibing, working, you know what I’m saying?”

Following it’s release this past May, the collaboration became a commercial success, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Durk opened up about the collaboration in an interview with Nadeska Alexis on Apple Music.

“It’s so crazy because we’d been talking for, like, two years, and he’d always be like, ‘Send me a record.’ And I’m like, ‘I gotta find the right record.’ I’m glad I waited two years. In my eyes, he a legend. If you have a chance to do a song with a legend, it be like, will you send them something just to send it, just to say you got one, or you gone make it stick? So that’s why I never just sent him a record. Cause I’m like, ‘I want something that’s gon’ stick.’”

Meanwhile, J. Cole continues to make waves with his surprise stage appearances. The Dreamville founder previously joined Drake on his “It’s All A Blur” tour and also took the stage with 50 Cent on his “The Final Lap” tour.
