Last week, Future seemingly dissed Russell Wilson on Quavo’s new single “Turn Yo Clic Up.” In the middle of his featured verse, the Freebandz rapper took jabs at Wilson with the line, “Goyard bag, tote the cutter. I got it out the field, f**k Russell.”
The lyrics referenced Wilson’s role as quarterback for the Denver Broncos and the rocky relationship between the two men, both of whom have children with Ciara.
Although Wilson didn’t comment on the alleged diss right away, the NFL star responded this week with a photo of himself and Future’s son, Zahir Wilburn in the field. In the caption he wrote: “Best part of the day #Dadlife.”
While the post seemed harmless, social media users deemed it petty and depicted the photo to be a direct response at Future. Naturally, the jokes flooded in droves.
“Future said I’m really in the field f**k Russel.. then Russ took a pic in the field with his kid .. this uncharted territory of disrespect,” one person wrote.
Another added: “And they actually on “the field”. 😂😂😂😂 This EXTREMELY petty, yet wholesome at the same time lol.”
“Every time Future diss Russ he comes back with one of these type pictures 😂,” wrote another person.
“There’s really no better shot than this. Nothing Future does or has compares to Russell bein a better man in his son’s life. Not enough niggas are embarrassed for letting another man be a better father to their kids.”
“Got it out the field f**k Russel” then Russel got his son ON the field while he practices.. idk future may have loss this round 😭😭”
Future’s relationship with Russell Wilson is a complicated one. The two time Super Bowl champion married Ciara in 2016, few years after her relationship with Future ended. They currently have two children together: daughter Sienna Princess Wilson and son Win Harrison Wilson.
Despite Future insisting he has nothing against Wilson, the Atlanta native criticized Wilson in a 2019 interview on his Apple Music show “Freebandz Radio,” accusing him of being controlled by Ciara. “He not telling her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband. You better not even bring Future’s name up!’ If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up. She know that. She couldn’t even bring her exes’ names up.”
