Angus Cloud, Euphoria Actor, Dies at 25

Los Angeles, CA – Angus Cloud, the actor best known for his role as Fezco on the HBO series Euphoria, died Monday in Oakland, Calif. He was 25. The cause of death has not been released, however, the Family confirmed his premature passing in a statement to TMZ.

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways,” the statement reads. 

“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend,” The statement continued. “Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

“We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss,” the statement concludes.

Cloud was born Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, in Houston, Texas, in 1998. He attended Oakland School of the Arts with his “Euphoria” co-star Zendaya, and was working as a waiter in Brooklyn when he was cast as Fezco in the hit HBO series. In addition to his drug dealer/guardian angel role in the Emmy-winning teen drama series, Cloud also appeared in the films “North Hollywood” and “The Line.”

Cloud also starred in various music videos such as Noah Cyrus’ “All Three,” Juice WRLD’s “Cigarettes” and Becky G and Karol G’s “Miamiii.”

Angus Cloud Cause Of Death Explained 

Angus Cloud died from an accidental drug overdose, according to a report released by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau on Thursday.

The 25-year-old actor suffered from acute intoxication after ingesting a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and benzodiazepine, TMZ reports.

According to a family insider, Angus had been battling severe suicidal thoughts following the death of his father whom his family described as his “best friend.” After his father’s burial in Ireland, Angus moved in with his family, seeking solace and support to cope with the overwhelming grief. Unfortunately, he was found unresponsive by his mother late Monday morning who quickly called 911 to report a “possible overdose.” 

The Oakland Fire Department stated that it responded to a medical emergency at approximately 11:30 a.m and the patient was “already deceased.” 

The actor’s final post to social media came on July 18, in which he noted he was in Dublin.

Following Cloud’s death, several of his friends and Euphoria co-stars took to social media to share their condolences and tributes to the rising star.

“There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon,” wrote Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. “He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.

Drake, who executive produces the hit HBO series, shared a photo of Angus and wrote that he was a “Good soul.”

Storm Reid, who plays Gia, the sister to Zendaya’s Rue, shared a statement on her Instagram story alongside footage of Cloud’s performance on the show: “The tears just won’t stop.”

“Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton, the actor who played the tattooed, gun-toting younger brother of Fezco on Euphoria, posted a sweet photo of himself hugging Angus to Instagram, writing, ‘Rest easy brother.”

“In Pieces” artist, Chloe Bailey reacted to his sudden death, writing, “Wow Angus Cloud gone too soon… rest in peace angel.”

Kid Cudi shared a tribute in memory of the actor, calling him “one of the realest dudes in this business.”

The official Euphoria account also released a statement, saying “He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

Angus Cloud was recently cast opposite Melissa Berrera in a new horror movie at Universal Pictures from “Scream 6” directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. According to reports, he had completed production for his role before his death.
