Burna Boy’s latest album, “I Told Them…,” is gearing up for an impressive debut on the Billboard 200. According to HDD, the Nigerian artist’s seventh album is predicted to sell approximately 20,000 equivalent album in the U.S in its first week. These figures are poised to propel the album to open at number 33 on the chart, marking the highest opening week for an African album in the U.S.
“I Told Them” also made history by debuting at number one on the UK albums chart, becoming the first African album to achieve this feat. Moreover, it earned the distinction of having the biggest streaming debut for an album by an African act in Spotify history, with 9.395 million streams. The album also gave Burna Boy his biggest streaming day on the platform, with 13.7 million listens on August 25, following the release.
The album, featuring 15 tracks and guest appearances from artists like J. Cole, 21 Savage, Seyi Vibez, Dave, and Byron Messiah, was released on Friday, August 25.
Shifting gears on the charts, Zach Bryan is poised to dethrone Travis Scott from the number one spot after Travis’s four-week reign. HitsDailyDouble reports that Bryan’s self-titled debut is on track to move 199,000 units in its opening week, while Travis Scott’s “Utopia” is expected to slide to number 2 with 92,000 units in its fifth week.
