The journey to Mr. Morale began after Lamar quoted an old tweet that frustratingly joked about his retirement from music.

“Kendrick Lamar is officially retired” tweeted @raptalksk. Lamar simply responded nearly three months later to the tweet by quoting it with a link to his website Oklama.com

The website opens with a new folder that has a brief press release that reveals Lamar’s new album named ‘Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers’ will be out on May 13, 2022. The press note ends with a message to his fans that reads “Thank you for your patience”

On Friday, May 13 the long wait finally came to an end after Kendrick released his fifth studio album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.”

The album serves as the official follow up to 2017’s pulitzer winning DAMN. as well as his final album under Top Dawg Entertainment.

Preceding the album’s arrival, K. Dot, on May 8 surprisingly dropped the single and accompanying video for The Heart Part 5. The song quickly sent social media into a frenzy and added to the already unbearable anticipation for Mr. Morale

Divided into halves of 9 – making 18 in total – Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers includes guest appearances from Ghostface Killah, Summer Walker, Baby Keem and more.
