Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have revealed the name of their second son, following the release of an alleged birth certificate online. As per the document obtained by The Blast, the child was named Riot Rose Mayers and was born on August 1, 2023, at the Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. The birth certificate indicates that Rihanna gave birth at 7:41 AM.
The name Riot is a unique choice, but it’s not the first time that Rihanna and Rocky have opted for a non-traditional name for their child. Their first son, born in May 2022, bears the name RZA Athelston Mayers, an homage to the rapper and producer, RZA, leader of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Though the exact meaning behind the name Riot remains uncertain, it’s bound to provoke curiosity and conversation. Some speculate it could be a nod to A$AP Rocky’s track “Riot,” released earlier this year, while others suggest it might simply be a name the couple found appealing.
As of now, the couple have not yet shared images of their newborn, however, fans won’t have to wait much longer for the first photos of Riot. The Fenty billionaire initially revealed her pregnancy during a show-stopping Super Bowl Halftime performance earlier this year, creating a historic moment as the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime show to date.
In the meantime, Rihanna is already back to work just a month after giving birth. She is set to launch her new Puma X Fenty Avanti soccer cleats on September 15, marking her first collection as the label’s creative director following a hiatus in 2017.
