Nicki Minaj’s Husband, Kenneth Petty, Sentenced to Home Detention for Threatening Offset

Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty has been ordered by a Los Angeles judge to serve 120 days on home detention for “making threatening remarks toward a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record.”

This decision follows an incident after the 2023 VMAs where Petty — who is a convinced sex offender — along with two associates, was captured on video making threats toward Offset, Cardi B’s husband.

“Offset, where you at? That’s it. Gotta spin that sh*t…go Kanye, man…we outside, big Zoo outside,” one of the men said threateningly.

Legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff shared court documents, quoting Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald, expressing concerns over Petty’s recent behavior and his compliance with court orders.

The filing further noted that Petty’s probation officer “believes placement in the Location Monitoring Program will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities, limit his movements, provide a sanction for his non-compliance, and hopefully encourage him to reflect upon and reevaluate his current status in the community.”

Cuniff highlighted that neither Offset nor Cardi reported the matter to the judge, emphasizing that the probation officer and judge acted independently.

In July 2022, Petty, 45, received a sentence of a year under home confinement, three years of probation, and a $55,000 fine for failing to register as a sex offender in California. He had previously taken a plea deal, admitting to failing to register after relocating with Minaj to California following their 2019 marriage. Petty’s conviction traces back to the attempted rape of Jennifer Hough in 1994, resulting in over four years of imprisonment.

As previously reported on Rap Aesthetics, Kenneth Petty, who also goes by the name “Big Zoo,” along with two associates, took to social media to confront Offset, who was in Atlanta with streamer Kai Cenat at the time. The motives behind their remarks remain unclear, though one of the men can be heard mentioning Offset and urging him to “spin that sh*t.”

Petty’s direct threats against Offset were also captured in the video, with him stating, “You plan that vacation, but we’re planning your funeral, punk. Always a street guy. That whole gang can suck it.”

In response to the threats, Offset, who is gearing up to release a new album, posted a video online, mocking the situation while exiting a private jet: “These n***as broke. We hopping off jets, bitch, y’all n***as standing outside,” Offset said between hysterical cackles.
