In new unfortunate turn of events, Killer Mike said he lied when he announced earlier this week that his good friend André 3000 was dropping a new album soon. During an interview with Big Tigger Morning Show, the 48-year old claimed he was “stoned” when he made the comments.
“I got a huge announcement to make…Dré ain’t finna give y’all no second album,” he admitted. “I was stoned out my mind, playing, teasing with y’all, y’all done took the joke too serious.”
“But you know, André [is] always making music. He’s never not making music. So I got a chance to hear a lot of cool stuff,” he continued. “If you want to hear Dre though, I know where you can. It’s this album called Michael that’s out right now. There is Dre, Future, and Killer Mike.”
During his conversation with Sway, Killer Mike announced to the world (unprovoked) that André 3000 has an album on the way.
“Yeah. I think we fly out in a couple of weeks to listen to it,” Mike said of the album.
Although KM now claims he was teasing when he made the comments, he previously assured Sway and his co-hosts that he was serious. He even admitted to have listened to “9 to 10 songs” from the album.
André 3000 hasn’t released a proper solo LP since OutKast’s Grammy award-winning album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which turns 20 this year. The elusive rapper has however, delivered several stellar guest verses with his latest being “Scientist & Engineers” from Killer Mike’s new album, Michael.
During his interview on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, the Run The Jewels member revealed that he has another 3 Stacks song in his vault.
“There is another Killer Mike and Dre feature and all we gotta do is make this album [Michael] go No. 1 and make the guys from the label really, really happy and I’ll be back next year,” he told Charlamagne Tha God.
“It’s about 12 minutes — seven and five,” he said. “Stacks rap longer. When you handsome all the girls like you you get to rap longer.”
