Two people were killed in a shooting at the parking lot of Yo Gotti’s Prive restaurant on Wednesday night (March 29). As cops continue to investigate the source of the altercation, a video showing the exact moment the brawl broke out has surfaced.
In the footage obtained by TMZ, a melee breaks out in a crowded corridor of the eating establishment following a tense stand-off between 5 to 8 people. A man in crutches wearing blue seemed to throw the first blow, and someone tosses a drink, which results in a full brawl.
Security stepped in to break the chaos, and the fight spills outside. The footage then jumps to the parking lot where the video starts with one man already gunned down, and the guy in blue hopping on one foot yelling at onlookers. He then opens fire with what appears to be a semi-automatic weapon hitting a man in black several times. The footage shows him hobbling away from the scene as 2 bodies lay on the pavement.
As we reported earlier, 2 people were pronounced dead after the shooting and 5 people were driven to the hospital for treatment. On Thursday morning (March 30), the Memphis Police Department released a statement about the deadly shooting.
“On March 29, 2023 at 11:17 p.m. officers responded to a shooting outside 6980 Winchester,” the statement reads. “Two male victims were located. One was pronounced deceased on the scene and one was transported to [Regional One Health] critical where he was later pronounced deceased. Five additional victims, four males and a female, arrived at area hospitals by [personally owned vehicles]. Prelim information indicates that the shooting stemmed from an altercation that started inside the club.”
Gotti’s attorney Arthur Horne also addressed the unfortunate incident. In a statement to local Memphis news outlet WREG, Horne said the shooting happened ‘out in the parking lot’ and that their establishment remains reputable.
“On behalf of Prive, they’ve been in business for ten years, and nothing like this has ever happened at their establishment,” he said. “It happened out in the parking lot, and it ended up in a shootout. Nothing happened inside the restaurant. Despite any conflicting reports, they were closing, and this happened at the end of the evening in the parking lot.”
Johnny Sanford, 36, Kendrick Jamal Gray, 30, and Damon Sykes 31, were all arrested and charged in connection to the deadly shooting.
