Jeannie Mai has made her first statement since news broke of her husband Jeezy filing for divorce. In an Instagram post, Mai wrote, “Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect. To Heal.”
According to insiders, Mai, 44, was shocked when Jeezy, 45, filed for divorce after two-and-a-half years of marriage. The couple still lives together, but their relationship is reportedly awkward.
The Atalanta rapper filed for divorce at the Fulton County Superior Court last month, citing an “irretrievably broken” marriage. The divorce would end a marriage that began in March 2021. Mai and Jeezy welcomed their daughter in January 2022. He is seeking joint custody of their one-year-old daughter, Monaco.
It is unclear what led to the couple’s split, but insiders say they had different views and their needs weren’t being met.
Recently, the former co-host of ‘The Real’ celebrated Jeezy’s new book, Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe. “Your story has always been an inspiration to me, but seeing it in print has left me even more in awe of your strength and wisdom,” she wrote on Instagram. “You invited us into the most intimate corners of your life, where pain and triumph coexist.”
