21 Savage has pledged to never perform at Rolling Loud ever again after the festival organizers replaced him at the last minute.
Unconfirmed reports say Savage was late for his performance at the final Rolling Loud event in Queens, New York on Sunday (September 25) which was headlined by Future. Apparently, the I Am > I Was rapper was stuck in traffic and did not arrive at the venue on time, so festival organizers were forced to replace his scheduled performance with a DJ set allegedly handled by DJ Scheme.
Though we still do not have an official confirmation for his outburst, 21 Savage’s displeasure with the Festival continues a timeline of chaotic events for RL New York. On Friday (September 23), Atlantic Records artist, 22Gz called the festival “trash” after he and two other drill rappers were removed from this year’s Rolling Loud New York lineup at the last minute for security reasons.
“SMH roll loud bout to be trash,” he began. “Only the police rappers gone be there no @22gzofficial no me. NYPD AINT LET @22gzofficial GO TO ROLLING LOUD but @fivioforeign can? Something ain’t sit right.”
He later added: “LOOKING FOR NEW MANAGEMENT. YOU CAN’T BE BROKE TRYIN’ TO DO THIS JOB. Rolling Loud police too. Pay attention. They part of the blackball.”
A$AP Rocky’s set was also marred with controversies when the New York rapper arrived 45 minutes late for his headlining set and the festival did not allow him the time to make up. Videos shared online showed disappointed fans booing after the rapper’s mic was cut off by festival organizers.
The Harlem native apologized for his lateness in a statement shared on Twitter, Sunday afternoon.
“I am so hurt right now! Last night was supposed to be a turning point in my live shows from the old to new!” Rocky said in a statement shared on his Twitter account. “I will take full responsibility for the circumstances of what led to last nights show being everything it was and everything it wasn’t.”
“I also want to acknowledge that even tho I prepared the best show for my fans, detail for detail, over the course of MONTHS. I was unfortunately not able to bring my vision to fruition and Im hurt about that and I want to apologize to all of my fans and continued supporters, and thank y’all for showing up for me regardless!”
During his set, A$AP Rocky brought out surprise guests GloRilla and French Montana. Rihanna also showed up to support her partner. The rapper performed nine songs before his mic was cut off.
“New York City, thank you so much…they cut a n-gga mic off but it’s all good,” Rocky said in a video shared online.
