Recently, a video went viral on social media featuring controversial Instagram personalities the “Island Boys.” In the clip — which I am never going to watch— the twin brothers were seen engaging in a romantic kiss. This video quickly sparked widespread discussions and reactions from people all over the internet, including rapper Boosie Badazz.
Known for his outspoken nature and strong opinions, Boosie took to Twitter on Friday (July 14) to share his thoughts on the viral video. Expressing his disapproval, the Baton Rouge rapper criticized the perceived femininity in the rap game, mentioning nail painting and BBLs. Boosie went on to suggest that such actions were leading to a shift in power towards women and implied that some individuals in the industry secretly desired to be promiscuous.
“ISLAND BOYS KISSING, N-GGAS PAINTING THEY NAILS, BBLs smh IM SICK OF THIS Feminine ASS RAP GAME,” he tweeted. “THESE MFS BOUT TO START WEARING THONGS n EYE LASHES NEXT!! N U WONDER WHY THE WOMEN TAKING OVER [green tick emoji] CAUSE YALL TRYING TO BE THEM !! N BACK OF YALL MIND SOME DAYS YALL WANNA BE HOES, MY BAD CITY GIRLS.”
The Island Boys, comprising of twin brothers Kodiyakredd and Flyysoulja have become popular on TikTok and YouTube, due to their eccentric style and questionable past, which includes being the alleged children of Jeffery Epstein. However, their latest stunt has not been met with universal approval.
Boosie’s comments ignited a heated debate, with some supporting his viewpoint and others criticizing him for his homophobic remarks.
“Hey, I hear your frustration about certain trends in the rap game. It’s important to remember that artists express themselves in different ways, and the industry evolves over time. Diversity is what makes music vibrant and allows for new voices to be heard. While it’s okay to have personal preferences, let’s focus on supporting the artists and styles that resonate with us. The rap game has always been diverse, and there’s space for different expressions of masculinity and femininity.
“Embrace the music that speaks to you and keep enjoying what you love! Buuuuut them 2 brothers kissing aint it,” one person commented.
Following the social media commentaries that accompanied their passionate display of affection, Flyysoulja confessed the act was a publicity stunt to gather attention for their OnlyFans channel.
“Hahahaa I got everyone paying attention I knew it [crying face emojis],” he wrote in the comments section of Akademiks’ repost of the video on Instagram. “So it took a kiss for everybody to pay attention? I guess selling your soul is real,” he added.
