Jay-Z Is Featured On Ab-Soul’s ‘HEBERT’ Album

Ab-soul would be making his long-awaited return this month with a new album called ‘Herbert.’ The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper revealed the album’s title and release date in a tweet shared in November.

“Damn near died makin this muthafucca..: GOD IS GOOD. HERBERT. December 16th,” he wrote.

In addition to Zacari and Fre$h, Herbert will also feature a cameo from Jay-Z.

“Hov x Soul #Herbert Dec. 16th,” Soul’s label Top Dawg Ent. shared on Twitter along with a photo of Jay-Z and Ab-Soul dining together.

Soul previously spoke about his admiration for the rap veteran’s talents. “I Used to wanna rap like Jay Z/Now I feel I could run laps ’round Jay Z,” he rapped on his 2012 track Illuminate.

Back in october he released the album’s first single “Do Better,” an introspective song where he opened up about his struggles with depression. He followed it with Gang Nem, which was released last month.

The L.A. rapper’s last full-length project, Do What Thou Wilt., was released in 2016 with features from Schoolboy Q, Mac Miller, Punch, SZA, Bas, and more.

While Jay-Z has not released a solo album since 2016’s 4:44. The Roc Nation founder has been on an impressive feature run in 2022, contributing his impressive pen game to songs with Pusha T and DJ Khaled. Jay is also rumored to be working on a full-length collaborative album with wife Beyoncé. The project is slated to arrive as a part of Queen Bey’s three-part RENAISSANCE series.
