Kanye West has signed Jaylen Brown to Donda Sports. The Boston Celtics star is the first NBA player to sign with the sports marketing agency.
According to TMZ, Brown and West are “tight,” and settled on a new partnership after the Yeezy founder attended a game between the Celtics and Warriors back in March, where they posed for photos together.
Ye reportedly signed Brown to Donda Sports because of his intelligence, social activism, charitable work and religious values.
Jaylen Brown helped the Boston Celtics qualify for their first NBA finals in ten years after the Celtics defeated the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night. Brown averaged 23.6 PPG with a 47.3 field-goal percentage. Kanye believes the 25-year old is underappreciated and alleges Donda sports can help elevate his career to “superhero” status.
The Celtics’ guard new alliance with Ye’s sports agency comes just days after Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald announced on the I Am Athlete podcast that he has joined Donda Sports.
“My wife actually does my marketing,” Donald said. “It was an opportunity that came to us and it made sense. Hearing the whole spectrum of everything that they was gonna be bringing, the family atmosphere that they got at Donda Sports. Not just me, but my wife being a part of that. For me, it was a no-brainer.”
The 31-year old framed his new partnership as an off-field opportunity he hopes will open up doors for him.
“I think it’s a hell of an opportunity to open up a lot of different doors and a lot of different things outside of football that I wanna be involved in, I wanna do, that my wife wanna do,” he continued. “So, to be a part of that, and be one of the best first athletes to be a part of that, it’s pretty dope. We’re excited about it, and we’re gonna see where this thing goes.”
Donda Sports continues to grow and may soon rival Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.
