Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of legendary Pop singer, Elvis Presley was rushed to the hospital on Thursday morning (Jan. 12) after her housekeeper found her unresponsive at her house in Calabasas. Sources say responding paramedics performed CPR at the scene, and were able to regain a pulse before she was transported.
Her family, including mother Priscilla Presley, quickly rushed to the hopsital to be by her side. She was unfortunately pronounced dead hours later after suffering a second cardiac arrest. The family— via a rep— announced “the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.”
“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie,” a rep for Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother, said per TMZ. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
Lisa Marie Presley was an American singer, songwriter and the only daughter of legendary American singer Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley. Her love for her father inspired her career in music, as she wanted to follow in his footsteps. In 2003, Lisa Merie dropped her debut album, “To Whom It May Concern.” The project reached number 5 on Billboard’s album chart, and earned a gold certification.
Two days before her unfortunate demise, Lisa Marie and her mother were present at the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, and were on hand to see Austin Butler win a Globe for his portrayal of Lisa’s father, Elvis Presley in the film “Elvis.”
Prior to her passing, she owned and operated the immensely lucrative Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005, when she sold off all of the business. She is still the owner of Graceland, Elvis’ famed Memphis estate.
Lisa was the mother of 4 children, including actress Riley Keough and her son, Benjamin, who died by suicide in 2020.
Lisa Marie Presley Cause Of Death
Lisa Marie succumbed to complications resulting from the obstruction, leading to her sudden hospitalization and subsequent demise at the age of 54. The obstruction was attributed to a strangulated small bowel caused by an adhesion from previous bariatric surgery. Prior to her hospitalization, Lisa Marie experienced symptoms like abdominal pain, fevers, vomiting, and nausea but did not seek medical attention. The toxicology report indicated the presence of prescribed painkiller Oxycodone, medication for opioid dependence Buprenorphine, and antipsychotic Quetiapine in her system, likely linked to an extreme weight loss regimen she had recently adopted. No illicit drugs were found at her residence during the time of hospitalization.
TMZ reports Lisa was in an induced coma and was placed on life support after her heart stopped a second time while she was hospitalized. She was also pronounced brain dead. Her perceived hopeless condition forced the family to order doctors not to resuscitate her when next she suffered an arrest, which was what happened shortly after.
Her death was announced hours later by her mother, Priscilla who asked for “privacy during this very difficult time.”
