In the latest episode of celebrity relationship drama, actress and singer Keke Palmer found herself facing public criticism from her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, for her outfit choice at an Usher concert. The incident, which unfolded on social media, sparked conversations about personal expression, respect, and the boundaries within romantic partnerships.
The Outfit Debacle:
It all started when the new mom wore a sheer black dress over a matching thong bodysuit to Usher’s 4th of July concert. The dress was floor-length and had a high slit up the front. It was made of a lightweight material that was semi-transparent, so her bodysuit was visible underneath. The bodysuit had a plunging neckline and a high-cut bottom. Palmer accessorized with a pair of black platform sandals and a small black clutch.
Palmer’s outfit was definitely eye-catching, and it sparked a lot of discussion online. However, her partner Darius Jackson, who Palmer has proclaimed to love endlessly wasn’t particularly pleased about the amount of skin she had on display. In reaction to a viral video of Palmer hugging and dancing with Usher, Jackson expressed his disapproval of her outfit choice writing:
“It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom.”

His comments instantly caught the attention of fans, sparking a heated social media debate about insecurity, boundaries and gender roles within relationships.
“how vile must you be to publicly shame your wife simply for what she’s wearing. she can do what she wants you freak,” one twitter user said.
Another added: “Why would you bring this public though? This should be a Conversation between the two of you.”
Following the social media backlash, Jackson returned to Twitter hours later to add more nuance to his tweet.
“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe.
I rest my case.,” he wrote.

Jackson’s additional commentary was met with with even more backlash from fans, with many criticizing him for perpetuating outdated stereotypes and attempting to exert control over women. Netizens were quick to highlight the underlying patriarchal attitudes and beliefs reflected in Jackson’s comments, signaling that his behavior resonated with broader societal issues related to gender inequality.
One twitter user commented: “Love doesn’t embarrass, love preserves. If Keke Palmer’s man had an issue with whatever she wore to an event, he should have handled that privately but he chose to embarrass her publicly. He chose to embarrass a lady who has been experiencing the most beautiful moments of her life this year. This is how envy and jealousy taste. A partner who shames you does not deserve to be with you.”
Another user wrote: “Did you express this before she went out? Because telling us does nothing.”

Palmer herself has not commented on the incident, but she has since shared more photos of herself in the now-controversial outfit.
She posted a pic in THE outfit, and said,
“I wish I had taken more pictures but we were running late! I am telling y’all right now, if you haven’t seen @usher YOU MUST GO!! HE WAS SO FABULOUS!!” She said.
“Where is that pic of us all together with the King himself??” She added.

Keke Palmer and Darius Daulton Jackson first met in 2021 at a Memorial Day party in May 2021.
