The forecasted first-week sales numbers for “Scarlet” continue to grow. HitsDailyDouble now expects the album to move around 60,000-70,000 first-week units. It’s yet to be seen if the updated numbers would be enough to help Doja Cat secure her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

Doja Cat‘s fourth studio album, Scarlet, was released on Friday (September 22) to positive response. The album, released with no features is expected to earn a top 10 debut on the charts next week.

Hits Daily Double are predicting that Scarlet will sell significantly less than Doja Cat’s previous album, Planet Her, in its first week. Planet Her sold 109K units in its opening week in the United States, while Scarlet is projected to sell 50-55k equivalent album units.

Despite the huge drop in sales, “Scarlet” has made Spotify history by achieving the biggest debut for a female hip-hop album, amassing 26 million streams. This also marks the largest opening day for an album by a female rapper since her own “Planet Her” in 2021.

Led by the number one single, ‘Paint The Town Red,’ “Scarlet” sees Doja trade in her pop sound that fans fell in love with for a more rap-centric aura. However, some listeners expressed disappointment over the album’s projected lower numbers.

Controversial YouTube YourRage wrote, “Sellin Yo soul to the devil for 55K is crazy,” alluding to the album’s elaborate use of demonic themes.

In the meantime, the “Say So” artist is heading out for her first-ever headlining arena tour across North America later this fall. “The Scarlet Tour,” a 24-date trek kicks off on Oct. 31 in San Francisco with stops in Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and more major cities. Ice Spice and Doechii will provide support on select dates for the Live Nation-produced shows.
