According to reports, Ice Spice recorded a verse for Ye’s unreleased song “New Body” as a replacement for Nicki Minaj’s part. However, the Deli hit maker’s team reportedly denied permission for its use. Ye expressed his frustration on social media with a now-deleted Instagram story stating, “ICE SPICE SENT A VERSE IN FOR NEW BODY NOW HER TEAM IS SAYING WE CAN’T USE IT.”

Rumors of Ice Spice’s involvement began earlier this week when media personality YesJulz leaked text messages revealing that she sent “New Body” to both Ice Spice and Doja Cat, seeking the best fit for the song.

“Sent New body to Ice Spice & Doja. Lets see who sounds best[.] hope you had a good time[.] Don’t let the jet leave me behind again! Taking a nap til 10,” YesJulz said in screenshots of texts she released on Tuesday on Snapchat.

“New Body” was initially intended for Ye’s album “VULTURES 1” featuring Nicki Minaj. However, Minaj declined to clear the song for release.

Nicki Minaj Explains Her Decision

In a December 2023 Instagram Live session, Nicki Minaj addressed her choice: “Regarding Kanye, that train has left the station, okay? No disrespect. I just put out a new album. Why release a song that’s been around for three years?”

Despite declining participation, Minaj previously expressed fondness for “New Body,” calling it “the biggest hit record that never came out.” She also recounted working on her verse with Ye, making the song’s shelving feel like a missed opportunity.
