Jay-Z Reveals He’s Considering Cutting His Hair

In a two-part interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Jay-Z reflected on his career and life, including the possibility of cutting his hair. 

The rapper revealed that he is considering cutting his hair to the classic Caesar cut, which he calls his “money cut.” However, his family is holding him back, with his daughter Blue Ivy telling him, “No dad, you can’t cut your hair, it’s part of who you are.”

Despite his family’s reservations, the rap mogul confirmed he’s contemplating the change. “I’m working thru whether to cut it or not, I’m just letting the world know.”

Jay-Z has been growing his hair long since 2016, and some fans of the Brooklyn icon speculate that a haircut could signal the imminent arrival of a new album, but the rapper has said that it will take “something important” for him to make music again.

“I’ll say I want to make music, but it has to be something important,” he shared. “I don’t want to just make a bunch of tunes. That’s not going to serve me. It won’t feed me, first of all. … I have to be saying something important. It has to mean something, you know? It has to mean something to a larger society.”

Jay-Z reveals that Blue Ivy was almost named Brooklyn

In the interview with Gayle King on ‘CBS This Morning,’ the business mogul also revealed that Blue Ivy was almost named Brooklyn. He and Beyoncé had decided on the name in theory, but when they saw the sonograms, they started calling her Blueberry. The nickname stuck, and they eventually dropped the “berry” and just called her Blue.

“It was supposed to be Brooklyn,” the 53-year old revealed. “That was the name we had in theory, But when we got the little sonograms, you know, they’re super small and we were calling her Blueberry. It was like a nickname. And for nine months we’re like, ‘Look at little Blueberry.’”

“It was natural. We just took the ‘berry’ off and just called her Blue.”
