Young Thug was arrested on Monday, May 9 at his Buckhead home in Georgia for alleged participation in criminal street gang activity. The 30-year old rapper alongside fellow Atlanta rapper, and YSL artist Gunna have been charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO)
Following news of his arrest, Thug’s father Jeffrey Williams Sr. addressed the allegations. During a brief interview with WSBTV, Williams Sr. claims his son was wrongly accused and vowed to “fight for him to the end.”
“I think my son has been unfairly linked to a lot of things,” Williams said. “But it’s up to us to prove it.”
“I’m gonna fight for him to the end. I’m his father. That’s what I do,” he added.
In addition to the aforementioned allegations, Young Thug is also facing murder, assault and armed robbery charges.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis alleges Thug’s Young Slime Life, which is also the name of his record label is affiliated with the Bloods gang and is responsible for “80% of violent crime in Atlanta.”
Thug’s father believes the District Attorney has it all wrong because YSL is a record label.
“It’s a business, It’s a record label,” he explained, before calling on other parents to join him in marching against street violence
“I want any parent that has lost a child to the street violence, any parent that wants to join in marching on street violence, because these are our kids. These are our kids out here. That’s been misled.”
Young Thug is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail without bond.
