In a deeply personal and poignant moment, acclaimed rapper NBA YoungBoy, known for his raw lyrics, took to his Instagram stories this past weekend to send a message to his father, Jeff Gaulden, who is currently serving a 55-year prison sentence. In the message, YoungBoy, who has also battled several criminal cases in the past, expressed his love and support for his father.
“No matter if I see you in the right ay or wrong again my n*gga I’m gone be smiling I went thru this experience on my own you built that one bitch I’m trying to tell you I’m on top of the love Jeff,” YB captioned a photo of his dad.
NBA YoungBoy’s father, Jeff Gaulden was sentenced to 55 years in prison in 2009 for a robbery gone wrong. He was 26 years old at the time of his arrest, and YoungBoy was only 8 years old.
According to court documents, Gaulden Sr. and an accomplice robbed a convenience store at gunpoint. During the robbery, the accomplice shot and injured the store clerk. Although Gaulden Sr. was not responsible for the shooting, he was convicted of armed robbery and attempted murder.
Gaulden Sr. has appealed his sentence multiple times, but his appeals have been denied. He is currently incarcerated at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in Louisiana.
As for YoungBoy, the 23-year-old father of 10 is presently living in Utah, where he remains on house arrest with restrictions while awaiting trial for gun charges.
